PLUS: Who's poisoning the wells? Likely future victims include poor Filipino children
(Next Post: Smugglers & big-time traders of rice should be closely monitored as they'll find good opportunities to exploit the market this El Nino year. This election year, these big-time industry players either volunteer to contribute (bribe) or are solicited for big donations by some major political candidates. Each of the more than 3 million very poor Filipino families spend much more for rice in terms of percentage of the family's total income, or received dole outs from a government program, than an average lower-middle class American family spends in total for foods. This contributes to the burdens of these families already suffering from occasional hunger - pinning them further to long-term poverty)

Are we advancing this cause? Are we making progress with this initiative? Yes, definitely. Absence of online activities doesn't mean we're not doing anything to advance this cause. However, limits to our resources & mobility seriously constrain us as to what we're capable of in terms of making progress as to our work for this cause. Ecclesiastes 3:1-12 (There's a time and place for everything under the sun...)
Glass ceiling? Well, how about a glass cage like in our situation? It's not what all it seems... |

Or this, our suggestion : 1 method that can work to help drastically curb severe corruption in the Philippines and even in other 3rd World countries

Are we to campaign not only to advance discourses about issues we think critical to the advancement of our causes but also against specific public officials who cause the long-time sufferings & pains of millions of poor and underprivileged Filipinos or others elsewhere? Why not, but we're not keen to do that now or anytime soon. In the Philippines, there are guarantees of freedom and enjoyment of basic rights, including freedom of expression only on papers...
We sometimes feel guilty when we think we have made little compromises even for critically important reasons like survival...

The circumstances that led to the rise of rebellions by the Filipino-Muslims & the Communist NPA lent some credence & justification for their armed struggles. But the present realities, & what became of these groups, we think, compel their organized violent struggles be stopped & alternatives be actively sought, employed. //Even China's leader Xi prioritizes the fight versus corruption

You don't have to be Einstein to find out the underlying
causes of our social problems that hold us back from realizing our full potential
as a nation. You don't have to be Martin Luther King or Mandela to see some
things are so very wrong & that perhaps you can do something. You don't
have to be holy or be the Dalai Lama to be concerned. You don't wait for a life-changing
experience, or for yourself to survive murder attempts - you only need a little
conscience & a little concern, a little time - to act to do something that
can make a little difference, that sometimes all that's needed to catalyze
little positive reforms. We resist our cynicism & apathy
Fact:
Decades of severe corruption in the Philippines mainly bred
& perpetuated (long-term poverty) petty & serious criminality - as big-time
crooks sleep tight & safe, petty ones should not be murdered

Einstein said something about perfection of means & confusion of aims that characterizes our age. Well, in our case, it's both: confusion of aims & means. But, really, it's not, just that we can think of & wish to do much as to our causes, even planned cause-oriented for-profit business ventures - just that we have a serious lack of means at this time. Not only that, we barely have safety or security provisions for ourselves beyond the simple & practical ones we take. In addition to that, signs of unmistakable but silent persecution, & threats, make us take cautious steps.
